Hey Man, Take it Easy!

95 days until race day, and I have to come to grips on this.  I don't know why, but almost every single run that I do, I think that I always have to get faster and beat the previous times, etc.. like it's a race or something.  Must be the competitiveness with my own self (not others) to cause me to do this. would be okay if I was not in training mode.  This past week, when I was unmotivated and tired I was trying to figure out what went wrong.  Then I looked at my training plan, and noticed the word Easy in front of the run (mileage).  - not hard OR difficult.  Not requiring great effort.  So, this week, I decided to throw in the towel.  For my easy run days, that is what I did......Easy.  Now my body thanks me on the days were I have to go hard as I do not feel so worn out from running like Forest Gump all the time.

Hard Sessions

These hill, tempo, and fartlek runs are really paying off.  Four weeks into training mode and I can sense improvement.  These type runs are something new for me.  Allbeit, they are hard but why would you do them if they were easy?  Right?  By far I think that my favorite seesion is the fartlek run.  Speed play; maybe because it contains the word play.  What is your favorite session.  By the way, week 3 went great.  I was scheduled for an 8 mile long run, but did 9.3.  When I got to mile 7 I was cruising so I blazed past 8 and killed it.  All miles were negative splits.  Great week ender.  Totaling 23 miles.

Fall Marathon Training Week 2 of 30 (Sleepy Monster)

The second week of the marathon training went very well.  I did not miss any runs.  As my long run is slowly increasing, I can definitely see improvement and the weight coming off as well.  I never really paid too much attention to my diet when I ran before.  I just ate whatever and because I ran, I thought the weight would just come off easy.  But I really have to watch it.  And I have.  And it's working.

One thing that I really need to start doing immediately is getting more sleep!  What I did before is actually keep a sleep journal and average out the last 7 days.  If I started getting more tired, then I would take a look at it, or know off hand.  On that note, Good Night!

Mon - 3.4 miles easy
Tue -   6 miles The Hills Have Eyes
Wed - 3.47 miles easy
Thu -   5 mile tempo run
Fri   -  3.5 miles
Sat   -  7 mile long run     Felt great, did not stop for anything, just kept on moving it.

Total Miles - 28.4

Weight  -   198 lbs
Total loss -    2 lbs

Every thing so far is coming together nicely.  I am really looking forward to this year's Fall marathon in my home state, NC.
